Today marks the nationwide expansion of the "Replace Old Window Air Conditioners" initiative, which now covers all regions of the Kingdom. This follows an initial phase that targeted seven major cities, where the program's readiness and supply chain capabilities were tested, concluding at the end of 2023. The initiative is organized by the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) in collaboration with relevant governmental bodies.
The full-scale rollout aims to reach every region of the Kingdom, involving over 50 retailers, more than 350 showrooms, and four national manufacturers. The initiative seeks to improve energy efficiency in homes by encouraging citizens to replace old window air conditioners with newer, more energy-efficient models. Participants will receive an incentive of 1,000 SAR, which will be deducted from the price of the new air conditioner, along with free delivery and installation services. Citizens can participate by visiting one of the participating electronics stores and presenting their national ID, or by ordering online through the stores' websites.
It is worth noting that SEEC previously implemented a similar high-efficiency air conditioner initiative, which ended in 2021 and benefited around 125,000 citizens. SEEC also conducted the initial phase of this replacement initiative, which concluded at the end of 2023.
This initiative is part of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), designed to encourage citizens to upgrade to more efficient air conditioning models while also supporting local manufacturing.
