SEEC is responsible for enhancing the energy production and consumption efficiency performance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. SEEC unifies the efforts of both governmental and non-governmental entities in this field to preserve natural energy resources. It focuses on establishing necessary regulations to improve energy consumption efficiency , ensuring sustainable growth and availability for all without affecting societal welfare.
SEEC was established through a Council of Ministers resolution in Dhu Al-Qi'dah 1431H (October 2010).
SEEC started preparation to launch the "Saudi Energy Efficiency Program" in Rajab 1433H (May 2012).
Targeting the highest energy-consuming sectors: Industry, Buildings, and land Transportation.
Launched energy efficiency initiatives and raising awareness about the importance of energy conservation and efficiency in cooperation with more than 30 governmental and semi-governmental entities.
Worked on +100 initiatives at various stages (feasibility study, design, implementation).
SEEC's mandate expanded to include the use of energy in power generation and water desalination, including electricity transmission and distribution, as well as feedstock use in the industrial sector.
Developed a strategic roadmap, defining SEEC’s vision, mission, and strategic goals, along with initiatives to achieve these goals and enablers to ensure success and enhance the Kingdom’s position in energy efficiency.
By end of 2030, energy efficiency efforts are expected to reduce energy consumption by one million barrels of oil equivalent daily compared to a business-as-usual scenario
