SEEC Implements Pilot Project to Audit Energy Consumption in (50) commercial Facilities.
SEEC announced proceeding with implementing a pilot project for energy auditing in (50) commercial facilities, which will be selected in accordance with a number of technical standards approved by SEEC, in order to study the opportunities to improve energy efficiency in these facilities. A comprehensive review of commercial sector will be made through this pilot project in order to understand its main characteristics and patterns of energy consumption, thus, appropriate solutions, initiatives and enablers can be made to rationalize and raise the efficiency of energy consumption in commercial facilities, as well as encouraging energy efficiency projects in this vital sector. The project includes several objectives, including preparing and designing a database of energy consumption in the commercial sector, preparing the technical models for reports and surveys, and creating an awareness and guidance guide includes advice to consumers in commercial facilities about the most important appropriate procedures and practices that contribute to raising energy efficiency. The project objectives also include identifying saving opportunities in energy consumption in commercial facilities while setting the required procedures to achieve this goal, identifying the challenges facing service providers and beneficiaries in the field of energy efficiency projects in commercial facilities, and proposing appropriate initiatives and enablers. SEEC required the concerned bodies in the commercial sector to initiate registration for the project through SEEC's website (www.seec.gov.sa), so that the submitted applications will be studied and the qualified facilities for the Pilot Project will be selected according to the approved technical standards and the quality of the data provided by the facility.
